805932 2009-09-01 02:42:00 x3, this mag is the worst one for a while. They didn't even buy anything for the beast! :(I agree. This confirms my intention to stop subscribing to it. Pato (2463)
805933 2009-09-01 03:04:00 maybe we should start a petition to get pcworld mag back to the good ol' stuff, not this "electronics with a couple pages of actual pc related article and up to date stuff, not articles that have been available for weeks in other sources". :2cents: GameJunkie (72)
805934 2009-09-01 05:49:00 Interesting - I thought it was just me getting bored with the magazine. I was considering canceling and getting Classic MotorCycles instead but they have got more jap stuff in these days. Rarely a good old British banger with a decent oil leak built in.
Fortunately I still have 20+year old CMCs knocking around - they can be read over and over.
But I feel PCWorld are in difficulty. The really interesting days of messing about with computers are over. Remember when we all joined the local computer club in the hope we may be able to find a Word Processor that actually worked?
Now everything works. Pity!!

805935 2009-09-01 06:09:00 I was considering just buying it for the disk - costs less to buy it than to pay the excess broadband fee's.

I agree with Wainui's post (pressf1.co.nz) though, lately the magazine has become more of a "Technology World" rather than a "PC World" :(.

805937 2009-09-01 09:56:00 Well, Let's try creating our own mag.

Agreed! Seems at times I'm only purchasing the disk - although Geoff Palmer, he always has good articles - not that the others don't - but..his topics are my thrills.

805941 2009-09-03 05:38:00 Now the explanation:-
The PCWorld was not late - the subscription had been
canceled. Not my doing.
The bank had canceled it as the credit card used to pay for the monthly regular subscription was not valid.

It was at this point that I realized what had happened.
I had lost my wallet recently and of course had to renew all my various cards etc.

So the bank took the correct action. Funny that they did not let me know.
But they have been very good indeed with me the last forty years or so and watched my account like a hawk.
So I forgive them and have also decided to give the magazine another go for a while at least.
It was only a month or so back that the Christchurch Personal Users Group had folded - no longer enough interest to keep them going.
Its difficult to find new interests in the computer world - but I do wish PCWorld had somebody who could get into CAD stuff - they seem scared of touching this side. Must admit I don't blame them - its tricky and difficult.
