Some of my kids friends are very polite and courteous and when you meet their parents surprise surprise they are the same.
Parents if they brought their kids well shouldn't be blamed how the kids turn out after they turn 17 or so for any behavioural problems. Some teenagers just go into a dick head mode.
The problem imo starts with kids riding bikes with no safety helmets and progresses no respect for authority after that.

Top school helps, friend sent girl to a private jobbie and was astounded at the change in attitude for the better,

805261 2009-08-30 03:14:00 Too much emphasis on kids' "rights" and not enough emphasis on "responsibilities" is what's wrong with this country.

We don't have to wait for coming years - it's already evident in all the youth gangs of South Auckland.

Agreed. Although it isn't just kids - mature adults rant about their "rights" too. Consider the fuss over the two women beneficiaries whose incomes were disclosed.

Immediately all the noise turned away from the actual debate about adult education. And very few publicly pointed out that the benefits came from other citizens - and that obligations came with that. No - it became all about "rights".

Can't blame the kids for learning that.

So what do those people that receive homes from the Habitat charity owe in obligations?

Charity comes from voluntary donations.
Government funded welfare comes from mandatory taxation.

People who get homes through Habitat for Humanity also don't go to the media complaining they got timber floors instead of marble tile floors - they appreciate what people have done to help them, rather than hold their hand out and demand more..

Yes I agree Sue Bradford has done a lot of harm to this country.
I only hope she gets is forced to stop some way or another.

The fact that we listen to pewk says something about current thinking.

People don't receive homes from Habitat For Humanity- they buy them. Over a ten year period, after which they go on to a mortgage. During which time they have to prove their ability to budget, keep up payments, and maintain the property. If not, another family gets the chance.
