Hope you read the fine print in their Application - got a spare 61+ K to set up From Their Brochure (www.imagef1.net.nz)

I dont mean any disrespect - But I'd be surprised if they say yes - I wouldn't be surprised if they say you're to young, you need a drivers license, and theres a fair amount of $$$ needed upfront.
(not to say you dont have $$, but its still a lot in most peopels terms)

What may happen is you may be able to get part time work with someone if they are willing.
While you have the skills, the age may be a problem.

I was thinking of something less demanding and more suitable for me(i.e part time rather than full time)

I do agree with you though-my age is certainly a restriction:p

804932 2009-08-28 05:09:00 Franchises, hmmmmmm.

It's not "Buy yourself a Job". It's a business.
However being a franchise it's not your business. Exactly.

You have to stick with the general nationwide policies, way of doing things, etc.

You have to pay them part of your profits. Well actually you have to pay them whether you make a profit or not.

Just because Dick Smith has decided to use them, well so what? How many people do you think will want to pay $129 to have their PC plugged in?

Hell, I could advertise the same thing (well a proper setup) for less if I really wanted to.

They weren't the first to do that, Noel Leemings etc offered it ages ago.
There was a similar group, Aussie, Quiksomething that used to have the same kind of arrangement, although not quite a franchise, you were in effect self-employed. By them. Haha.

Bugger that, I'd rather have my own business. IT might be small but its all MINE. I make the decisions and I decided who and what is involved in it.

804933 2009-08-28 05:27:00 MMmmm... you may be better off applying for a job directly with your local Need A Nerd Franchise there mate, than directly with Need A Nerd.

Unfortunately even if you have a full license, places like that sometimes require you're 25, on the sole basis of the insurance on the company vehicles...

I don't really have much of a chance either way...

Anyways, I do work in the weekends as the local "tech" but never ever worked in a proper company before...so yea:p

Thank you recession.

Good jobs have ALWAYS been hard to find... Nothing to do with whatever the financial climate happens to be at the time...
