805251 2009-08-30 00:33:00 Too much emphasis on kids' "rights" and not enough emphasis on "responsibilities" is what's wrong with this country.

We don't have to wait for coming years - it's already evident in all the youth gangs of South Auckland.

805252 2009-08-30 00:33:00 The travesty of it all is as the behaviour spirals downwards these people will still be pushing for everyone to keep their distance as apparently its all our fault for trying to put controls in place to teach better behaviour and to define what is and isn't acceptable. Perhaps we had better put these eight year olds in boot camps now.
Why wait until they are in their teens?

You don't need boot camps at that age - parents should be taking responsibility for raising their kids. It shouldn't be up to the state to teach kids how to be good human beings - especially at that age.

805259 2009-08-30 02:04:00 Most of the time but not always the kids behavior is learnt from their parents.
Some of my kids friends are very polite and courteous and when you meet their parents surprise surprise they are the same.
Parents if they brought their kids well shouldn't be blamed how the kids turn out after they turn 17 or so for any behavioral problems. Some teenagers just go into a dickhead mode.
The problem imo starts with kids riding bikes with no safety helmets and progresses into no respect for authority after that.
