886639 2010-05-20 10:22:00 Same thing happened to my daugther's EeePC recently. Faulty motherboard - replaced under warranty...

Have you checked the Power Management software to see whether you have accidentally set the brightness low?

886640 2010-05-20 10:25:00 Have you tried manually adjusting the brightness?
fn+f8 on my HP lappy.
Otherwise you may have the dreaded HP power connector
breakage.(they are poorly designed and the soldering can give way)

886641 2010-05-20 10:29:00 when it runs off the battery the brightness is set to the lowest setting.

when it is plugged into the charger/mains it changes to full brightness.

it was working fine when i was at university but at home no go :(

the battery icon doesnt say it is charging/have the plug icon on it.

i can change the power plan from custom(i've described above) to maximum and full brightness is on

886642 2010-05-20 10:48:00 should i take it back to bond and bond and see what they have to say about.

surely it should work for more than the 15 months i've had the laptop

886643 2010-05-20 11:03:00 My charger failed completely after eight months (a Toshiba). Toshiba replaced it under warrenty. My first phone call didn't get any action (although it was promised). I rang again (to Australia but on a NZ 0800 number) and the charger arrived in two days flat... :) R.M. (561)

886645 2010-05-20 11:13:00 Do you know someone else with a similar model
you could try the power supply with?
Just to confirm which it is, power supply or motherboard power connector.
