| 807251 | 2009-09-06 10:19:00 | I just got home from a lovely long weekend only to find my "security letterbox" vandalised :groan: Basically the lid was ripped off and the attachments broken sp the whole letterbox would have to be replaced. http://www.securityletterbox.co.nz - so much for being secure! (at least my junkmail was safe inside, untouched :illogical) How I would love to kick the **** out of the little ***** who like to do these things. This isn't the first time this has happened. Is the solution a PO BOX? Considering the cost of the mailbox, it may be no more expensive in the long run. Has anyone else suffered from the hands of these idiotic, brainless morons? |

Haven't had that specific problem, but I see the handiwork of the same type of dickheads that do that kind of mindless vandalism every time I go for a ride on Sunday mornings: broken beer bottles on the side of the road (death, for a road bike tyre @ $85 a pop!), or even piles of empties in lay-bys, or on the shoulder of the road. |

| 807253 | 2009-09-06 10:59:00 | I would assume you live on a main road, or just off one, probably with a pub nearby.... The frustrating thing is that we don't...it's an otherwise decent area. PO Box looks the likely option now...especially with identity theft being rife. I don't trust any mailbox to be secure. Now...will my insurance company pay out for a $200 mailbox and not make me lose my no claims? What are the policies for being an innocent victim of mindless acts of vandalism? I'm probably being a bit hopeful. |

Will depend on your insurer I would think - but doesn't 'no claims' only apply to vehicular insurance? $200 mailbox, $100 excess (assumed), got anything else to claim at the same time to make it worth your while??? |

We are attacked at halloween every year by kids who have nothing better to do and think it's their God given right to demand that people give them sweets. This year I'll be putting up CCTV cameras to try and catch whoever is that's responsible as I'm sick of having to clean up the mess they leave behind. |

| 807258 | 2009-09-06 11:38:00 | We had a spate of hoons going to/from Piha who lightened up their dreary lives by bashing letter boxes with a softball bat as they drove past. A friend of mine is a craftsman blacksmith, and he made a letterbox that looked just like a standard tin one , but was actually made of heavy steel. Next time the hoons tried their game - boiiiinnnng! Funnily enough the attacks died down after that. | Tony (4941) | ||

| 807260 | 2009-09-06 13:00:00 | I had a friend with a security letterbox that people loved to mess with. One day it was completely smashed so they just put the old one back. Since it was much less conspicuous it was left alone | ScreaminGherkin (14811) | ||
