807151 2009-09-05 21:19:00 What a poxy digital week starting last monday.
Phone lines are crossed on my home phone so if any one rings me a lady in Te Atatu gets my calls.
Another guy in Kelston gets my phone when he rings his girl friend in Henderson (I live in Glen Eden).
Not just once but every call.
I can still ring out and telekom had diverted calls to my celly but I am missing out on faxes.
Telekom says they cant fix it till friday between 3 and 7 , good to their word they fix it at 4 pm. They didn't ring to say it was fixed so at 10.00 pm I rung and checked, man said it was a cabinet fault.
But wait there is more dragon tells me as from 4pm broadband internet does not work.
No ADSL light on router, after buku hours of talking to a help desk in the Philippines they "escalated" the call to NZ and after hours on hold they said they will try and fix it by the 11th thats a booking for a technician. They think the broadband isnt switched on at exchange.
I ask for free dial up and start to enable it on my computer but **** there isnt a modem in any of my computers. No probs fire up old laptop its got a modem turn it on CMOS battery flat cant get laptop (its a toshy) apart to get at battery, jump on keyboard and smash it against the garage wall.
Find a very old pctel card in shed from a computer neighbs had thrown out.
Go to neighbs to use their computer to get driver couldnt find a free one,
pctel website down so give up.
Kids complain like crazy, ring computer tech lady who comes around she pulled a big plastic box with a zillion connection cards in it and selected one she said XP had a driver built in.
This lady is incredible she has a very small Suzuki which looks like a cartoon car but in it are boxes of every computer part you can think of.
Only enough room for her in the car.
She has it it running and for only $60 on a sat afternoon, she also shows me screw which is under a label in the wreckage of my old lappy.

So are you on a completely separate network or do you just ring another helpdesk who rings Telecom on your behalf so you can kid yourself?

807154 2009-09-05 22:49:00 Doesn't matter I don't have to deal with them and I have only ever had to call them once when we moved gary67 (56)
807155 2009-09-05 23:43:00 I was just going to say the same thing PaulD. I have my phones with Slingshot and if anything goes wrong and I ring them they just ring Telecom or there contractors (Courus ) to fix the problem.
:)

You hope that your area has Chorus contractors that aren't on strike or redundant.

807157 2009-09-06 00:15:00 I reckon they might be sabotaging the connections etc to bring attention to their plight.
Funny nothing like this happened before and it happens in strike week.

Looks more like a computer screw up. In the days of mechanical switching the equipment usually worked better during strikes. A bit like cars working fine until "tuned up".

807159 2009-09-06 02:01:00 If its a computer screw up why did a technician have to do something in a cabinet?
If its a computer screw up why do I have to wait 5 days for a technician to enable broad band at exchange?
