| 806752 | 2009-09-04 00:21:00 | Hi guys, I'm looking at having an iPhone adapter installed in my car. I came across a business called Radio Waves (http://www.radio-waves.co.nz) who sells the necessary adapter - can't find anyone else that sells it. Does anyone have any experience with them? Specifically, using them for installation. Thanks |

| 806753 | 2009-09-04 21:31:00 | Does anyone have any experience with them? Thanks We use radio waves in the US all the time . From CB radio service all the way up to cooking our food in a little magic white box with a window on front of it . Why, in MY day, we captured radio waves with a cat's whisker, a germanium crystal, some wound copper wire, an oatmeal container and some crystal earphones . Why - we could actually HEAR things on the radio waves that way! I just think of the day when it all gets improved and can be used for something good instead of just entertainment . Maybe I'll build another crystal radio and see if I can find Jack Benny and Little John And Sparky and see what they've been up to all these years . |

They didn't have crystal earphones in my day, we had to use high impedance earphones. SG Brown were reckoned to be good! Edit: high impedance earphones used a steel diaphragm activated by ironed cored coils in near contact, said coils wound with many turns of fine wire............. |
