806474 2009-09-03 00:38:00 Interesting - Just got a letter from Telstra.

As of the 1st October - no more analogue TV - They are switching over to Digital - while the old analogue decoders will still work for a while, they wont be able to pick up some current programs.

Normally $99 - currently free to change over to Digital.

Wonder how many older TV's will spit the dummy as well.

Why? It's all done in the decoder, so long as the output is OK what does it matter to the TV.

806476 2009-09-03 00:47:00 I have been to a few peoples place where they had really old TV's that couldn't handle a digital signal (they got Sky installed) Ended up having to Purchase a New TV. wainuitech (129)

Is this because the old tv's didn't have the composite connections? I can't see how changing the decoder would affect a telly, and the signla out of it is still either RF or composite (both analogue)

806478 2009-09-03 02:10:00 Several times I've seen it happen, each time the People had already brought a new TV - I was told it was because the Old TV didn't work with the New Sky Digital (words to that effect) -- That's all I was told - no other reasons give - none of my business, so I cant honestly say why. wainuitech (129)

806480 2009-09-03 07:43:00 I have two televisions that can only have the old mouse ears/VCR input (What's that input called?).

Constructive suggestions on where to shove them appreciated.
