807289 2009-09-06 21:44:00 Just curious how it's going, as it's a firm favourite round here.

I just hope they aren't going to do an AVG on us, and make it look swanky at the expense of its RAM footprint and functionality

807291 2009-09-06 22:28:00 Didn't realize it was out actually, should probably try it out, I have found recently that Avast is using quite a bit more RAM than it used to, especially when updating (oh noes, sounds like avg!!) :( but the CPU cycles are still well under control, so it's a long way ahead of AVG still in the system heaviness area, and programs using RAM these is no major. I too sincerely hope they don't turn to crap, would be very annoying having to recommend to hundreds of people to remove Avast and put AVG back on, for exactly the same reason they removed AVG in the first place!

*fingers crossed*

807292 2009-09-07 00:19:00 Been trying it for about a week now. Certainly like the new UI. Hated the old "music player" interface.

Crashed on me twice in 7. Might be a compatibility issue.

807293 2009-09-07 00:55:00 No I did not know it was out.
But like everyone else I hope they keep its footprint small.
But a remake of its music player-like interface would not go astray.

Wouldn't a VM be better?

807296 2009-09-07 04:06:00 No doubt in situations other than mine it would be, but I prefer a separate physical machine. Plus it gives better performance, and I feel is more accurate Agent_24 (57)
