806467 2009-09-03 09:56:00 Any video clip can be saved if you know how. Once played (downloaded) the file remains present as a temporary internet file and if you know how to find it you can save and rename it. I use Ztree, which locates the temporary internet file (sometimes two of them) in seconds.

Being videos you can easily recognise them by the time stamp and file size. I copy the file to another directory and rename it *.flv or *.wmf etc according to the original format and that's it.

I never had any success with file grabbing programs, they all seemed to work for a while then quit on me. Rightly or wrongly, I attributed that to sites like Utube trying to stay one step ahead of the file grabber writers.

Cheers

806468 2009-09-04 05:11:00 Thanks for your detailed response – have downloaded Ztree but am unsure where to find that damn file – have done a search (XP) on today’s files but nothing showing up – where does Windows hide them?!
Thanks

806469 2009-09-04 05:19:00 Here's one link: www.rtl.nl/(ord=1252037772829)

You can feed that through something like SDPDownloader which should hopefully be able to download it the windows media stream.

806470 2009-09-04 07:33:00 If you use Firefox, try the downloadhelper addon. It can handle a ton of different sites, and even convert the .flv's to other formats on the fly (although you have to register if you don't want a watermark on your files - I get around that by using VLC). ubergeek85 (131)

Commands:

Log C L/C

Enter (F)ilespec *.*

Press Enter

(G)lobal

ALT-F x 3 to display file sizes and time

Look for largest file size on screen, it will be in the first 10-15 displayed and the time stamp will be only a few minutes old.

Ctrl C to copy or Ctrl-M to move

Enter destination directory/folder and press enter.

Go to destination directory and change file name to ???.flv

Alternatively take the time to to learn the split-screen mode and you can select the destination on screen and 'move as', renaming before sending.

Takes less than a minute to complete this process once familiar and as I said, it will capture any file. It is unstoppable because it lifts the file direct from your temporary internet files.

Cheers

If you use Firefox just go to Tools/Page Info and you can save it from there.
