| 887908 | 2010-05-25 04:22:00 | Can you install a Linux O/S on an external hard drive and be able to boot of it? I don't wish to alter the configuration of my laptop and want to retain XP on it. I have a WD external hard drive of 250gig capacity. Currently it has 75gig of free space. | smurf (6545) | ||

I would suggest you try installing to the laptop with Wubi. It installs inside Windows just like another applicaton, only makes a small change to boot.ini and will remove that change and all files if you wish to uninstall it later. I don't know how reliable it will be if you install it to an external drive with Wubi. I think it would be best if you installed it to the internal hard drive. |
