| 887181 | 2010-05-22 09:03:00 | I've fallen a bit behind on technology and was wondering if you guys had any ideas on some components for a new PC build already decided on an AMD system if you guys could recommend any components that would amp up the performance system: Cpu: Amd phenom x6 1090t black edition (thuban) @ 3.2ghz Mobo: Asus crosshair IV formula Case: Silverstone raven rv02 these are parts i've already decided on. |

| 887186 | 2010-05-24 01:25:00 | There are sites that run scientific tests of different setups specifically for this task. They'll give you a better idea of components merits than any of us will. TomsHardware (www.tomshardware.com) is the one that I use. Look at "Best Graphics Card for the Money", "Best CPU for the Money" and the Balanced PC series. I was interested in the AMD x6 too. Toms benched it against Intel and it turns out that while it's great for threaded apps, it's not much of a gamer. Thoroughly trounced by the i5 IIRC. I'd go with 5850, 5870 or (if you have cash coming out your ears) 5890 and not bother with nVidia. Just pick one that's at your price range. |
