| 808514 | 2009-09-10 05:19:00 | "Providing fibre to the vast majority of rural schools will effectively deliver the capacity to provide faster broadband to the communities they serve. Fibre backhaul is currently the primary limiting factor in the delivery of rural broadband and getting fibre to schools will address that." Following the MUSH (municipal, university, school, hospital) approach to deploying a new broadband network seems like a good idea - once you have rural schools hooked up, you can then use them as a termination point for farms in the area. If any farmers are particularly enthusiastic, they could probably run their own fibre to connect up to their nearest school, or wait for whatever offering someone like Farmside provides. Do any rural PF1ers here have a particular opinion on this? www.stuff.co.nz |
