807668 2009-09-07 22:51:00 For capitalism to succeed, somebody has to suffer.

I don't agree with this. people can suffer (and sometimes do). But I wouldn't say people -have- to suffer for it to succeed.

807669 2009-09-07 23:17:00 5 million to a clown who's company is down 35% previous year is just out of there.
I like the words obscene, disgusting, sick to explain it.

807670 2009-09-07 23:23:00 I'm kinda wondering too - what do people use all that kind of money for anyway? $3m+ every year! I cannot imagine spending more than $1m alone in just one year. And that $1m includes paying off the mortgage, buy a cheap house somewhere, a $10k computer and a nice $80k Ford. I don't think that would even amount to $1m. qazwsxokmijn (102)
807671 2009-09-07 23:33:00 Prefect, if your boss offered you raise to $5 million, would you tell him to go to hell?

Qaz, plenty of thing to do... A house in the Mediterranean, a private jet... Money don't buy you happiness but it sure does buy you a lot of stuff, that'll keep you happy at least temporarily. :p

Maybe that's because your world/visions/imagination are somewhat limited ? :clap

Speaking as the lefty that Cic thinks I am, I don't go along with the politics of envy :punk

I dont have a boss except my wife I have my own business and employ people.
But if I did work for someone and they offered me an obscene lot of money for running a companies turn over down, and laying off technicians I wouldn't take it because I couldn't look the workers in the face and say we have to economize.

Which is why you put 20 layers of management between yourself and the people who actually do the work, and then you employ an HR division to manage the way the people who actually do the work deal with the layers of management that protect you.

Then you give yourself a massive bonus, fire half the workers, squeeze the rest, ramp up the prices, reduce money spent on infrastructure and divert it into marketing.

WOOHOOO.....Telecom in a nutshell.

Yeah, right.

With Capitalism, man exploits man.
With Communism, it's the other way around.

Human nature - you can't get away from it. :groan: There is no such thing as a utopian system - it's just a pipe-dream.

807676 2009-09-08 00:16:00 :DThis is the point of the whole thing. How much is enough?Enough to me and to say for example, rupert murdoch, have two different meanings.Money or matierial things do not matter to the super rich, its the power and influence that comes with having such vasts amounts of money that drives their enormous egoes in a perpetual circle causing a global hurricane with them at the still centre and the other 99% of us in the swirling carnage on the edge!!! Damn this weed is good.!!!!!!!! willowtheblue (15208)
