887122 2010-05-22 03:34:00 There seem to be a surplus of dll files in my system. I had a little utility programme a while back which ran a check on these and removed any that were unused but that utility has gone from my system in the latest revamp.

Can anyone suggest a similar easy to use utility (hopefully free) that would do that task for me? Many thanks.

There's 10,700 of them Speedy - I'm sure they're not all necessary, surely.

It depends on how many apps you have installed, how long since you ran something CCleaner/Glary utilities, and how long since you last did a rebuild.

For example, my work laptop (XP Pro), which I run quite lean, and clean out regularly (plus rebuild annually) has 4340 .dll's currently. So if you haven't given it a good dungout in a while, accumulating 10,700 would be quite easy.

I think you'd be quite shocked at how many .dll's something like Photoshop CS5 or Office Pro 2007 loads on your system ;)
