888275 2010-05-26 02:43:00 I have a copy of Windows 3.1.

I was wondering if there is anyway that the seven disks can be copied onto and setup on a CD as an operating system. ie. if the BIOS was set to boot from the CD first, could Win 3.1 boot the computer and operate?

I know that I can use VM but I was just wondering.......

When they are installed to media (Hard Drive) the extensions are completed, along with configuration files of the hardware that make up the computer. Windows 3.1 is NOT agnostic so wont install correct drivers.
What you could do, is create a hyper visor that installs on USB that will play on any bare metal, which will then use the resources of the PC to start up the VM of Windows 3.1
