888000 2010-05-27 07:11:00 As Chill said, dont listen to him. As I Tell my customers if they ask " if the PC is doing what you want, no need to change it."

Since you mentioned you are going to upgrade the other parts later - Just think ahead a bit as well.

When you get a New Power Supply, its better to spend a bit extra NOW and get one that will handle any upgrades in the future, (higher wattage) then spend less and only have to upgrade it again later.

888002 2010-05-27 07:26:00 A 400 - 460W should be enough. You dont have to go overboard Speedy Gonzales (78)

Your board would work with even a 1500 watt PSU.

The PSU only supplies what the PC asks for, nothing more (although using a 1500 Watt PSU in your case would be silly, it would be running at such low load the efficiency would be rubbish etc)

As I said before, the Corsair 400CX pricespy.co.nz should do great.

If you need something cheaper, check the PSU list here: pricespy.co.nz and buy a Thermaltake or High Power (I would really recommend the Corsair though)

Do you have Internet banking and if so you can send money that way if the shop will allow this.

888007 2010-05-27 08:34:00 Ascent allows you to send the cash via internet banking and they courier the goods freight free.

There also may be other online shops that do the same.

888008 2010-05-27 08:41:00 thanks for all this help. when its time to get the power supply i will use this as a reference.

where is the fan on the corsair? i've seen utube vids with very similar almost identical psu's and the fan is on the bottom on them. is this so for the corsair? my current psu has the normal one out the back with a gold grill, and one on the botton with a gold grill (which is the one making the noise and the one thats the issue)

888009 2010-05-27 08:42:00 You can also get a Prezzy Card (www.nzpost.co.nz) - they work the same as a credit card for the amount you have on them.

On their site under the FAQ, #6 says how to use it shopping on line.

Got one for my birthday in Feb, just spent it on getting some tiling bits and bobs for the porch area. Got $4 left on it  McDonald's any one :p

To answer your question -- Corsair power Supplies usually have one big 120MM fan on the bottom Like this one (www.corsair.com) Also These ones (www.corsair.com) are good. ( watch the videos) bottom one first :D
