Ken

The current cost of NZ petrol (91) is $1.65 per litre

This = $6.25 per US gallon

So our cost is about twice that of the USA, assuming I used this converter correctly:

www.mississauga4sale.com

[edit] bugger - that converter is in Canadian $$. Somewhere there must be another converter.

809592 2009-09-14 00:46:00 US Gallons to Liters = X times 3 . 7854

And USD to NZ, X times 1 . 4142

Let's see if I can do this:

I gallon of gas here costs $3 . 099 TODAY (as it went up overnight) and then multiplied times your currency exchange = $4 . 38 a Liter .

I think .

Let me try that again in the King's English .

We pay $3 . 099 per gallon and you would multiply our - no make that you would divide your Liters into our Gallons and get 3 . 795, then times the currency exchange rate would equal: $4 . 38 a Liter to youse guys . Right? Huh?

Nah - that's not right!

I am trying to work numbers here and also finish installing Ubuntu - can't youse guys see I'm at a distinct disadvantage here?

INTERPRETATION OF AFOREMENTIONED CHART

DEFINITION: Ratio of premium gasoline price to world average
Units: Ratio of Gasoline Price to World Average
Units: Pump price for super gasoline (US$ per liter): Fuel prices refer to the pump prices of the most widely sold grade of gasoline . Prices have been converted from the local currency to U . S . dollars, and the ratio of the gas price to the world average in the same time period was used in order to normalize the data . For more information, see World Development Indicators, Table 3 . 12 .

809595 2009-09-14 02:21:00 I saw a doco the other day, 1 jet fighter...(F22?), uses 12,000L of fuel!!!....do the math on that!, My car takes 65L, though it dont go anywhere near the distance, but, 12K on gas per jet plane, how many test runs do these things do?...If anyone comes up with an alternative fuel?.... 1200 lt's per 100000k seems good to me.

809597 2009-09-14 03:38:00 FYI, you can fill up a diesel car with Jet Fuel and run it.
Almost all military vehicles stationed at airports and such run on jet fuel instead of diesel. Simplifies logistics of using one type of fuel, since their characteristics are nearly identical.

Edit: As far as alternative fuels go, one of the chief ingredients of synthetic diesel is cannabis extracts. Stoner cars, lol.

809598 2009-09-14 05:31:00 Convert Gallons to Liters
1 US Gallon = 3.7854 Liters

Divide Price by liters to get US price per liter
3.099 / 3.7854 = $0.8187 US per liter

Convert USD to NZD
$0.8187 * 1.4142 = $1.1578

So based on the figures provided by SurferJoe a liter of Gas in the US costs $1.1578 NZD.

Doing the reverse we pay $4.4166 USD per Gallon.

809599 2009-09-14 06:11:00 If you are accurate - and I bet you are - you are paying about $1.40 more than we and that's about 50% more per unit SurferJoe46 (51)
