| 888392 | 2010-05-26 10:38:00 | Ok..installed Ubuntu10.4 LTS. Question is how can I configure the firewall:Gufw It seems to have no options???? secondly is an antivirus programme needed if so what and where do i get it from? | smurf (6545) | ||
| 888393 | 2010-05-26 10:48:00 | There is no need for an antivirus, unless you are planning on downloading things then sharing them with a Windows machine. Eset do a BETA version of their NOD32 for Linux if you feel the need. beta.eset.com help.ubuntu.com is the firewall I use. help.ubuntu.com is the Ubuntu page for yours possibly the more knowledgeable Linux types may have other suggestions. |

| 888397 | 2010-05-26 23:20:00 | Gee, firewall, anti-virus, on Linux? I think you're freed from all that stuff on Linux. I have had one distro or another on my computer for years, and, as far as I know, have never had any nasties. |

| 888399 | 2010-05-27 01:46:00 | Thanks I have installed Firestarter and it seems to be up and running. Not going to bother with AV as consensus seems to suggest it is not necessary. Thanks for all the help :) | smurf (6545) | ||
