| 888162 | 2010-05-25 11:21:00 | Hey! I have a Dell 2850 server, lets assume all the hardware is fully functional as it all worked fine with Server 2008 x86 (32-bit). I've decided to install x64 R2 as the server has 64-bit Xeon processors. When I installed the 32bit edition originally I used a bootable USB drive as the server does not have a DVD rom. I've got a ISO image of the 64-bit Windows Server edition. When I try to load the setup, regardless of how I do it, I get the following error: pressf1.pcworld.co.nz What I've tried to no avail: 1. Downloaded the ISO again (as suggested by 100s of google articles) 2. Mounted the ISO using DRAC (ILO Equivelant) 3. Booting from USB Always get the same error. My last attempt was to boot from a mounted ISO and insert a USB stick into the server with all the possible drivers, this also didn't work and I got this error: pressf1.pcworld.co.nz Anyone have any other ideas :s I've really run out. Thanks for any help! |

| 888163 | 2010-05-25 11:32:00 | Had a similar error a year or so back (but not the exact same one)-- (cant remember exactly the time) but from memory the problem was a faulty DVD drive. It may or may not be similar. Have you tried installing from a DVD Drive, | wainuitech (129) | ||

I think wainui probably saw that but is suggesting it may be easier to connect a DVD drive and try and install from that. That's what I would do anyway. |

| 888168 | 2010-05-25 11:55:00 | Yea I agree but the server has only SCSI connectors and I haven't got a SCSI DVD rom :) I can get a USB DVD ROM but wouldn't that be the same as booting from a USB stick? | WarNox (8772) | ||
| 888169 | 2010-05-25 12:02:00 | Pull a std DVD drive out temporarily ... That's what I would do. Oops .. you just have SCSI ... |

Not necessarily, I've had machines that will not boot from a USB stick but USB optical drive worked fine. |
