810736 2009-09-16 04:45:00 Hi Folks. Can someone kindly refresh my memory as to how to check the up/down speeds of my broadband? Thanks Scouse (83)
810737 2009-09-16 05:09:00 Speedtest (Speedtest.net) my friend password (5384)
810738 2009-09-16 05:11:00 Two ways, you can find your modem's connection speed from the admin/setup of the modem or you can download something from a speed test site. The 1st lets you know how good your connection is and the 2nd lets you know how congested your ISP's routes to other places are. PaulD (232)

Using my crystal ball to guess that you have a Thomson Speedtouch, go to 192.168.1.254 in your browser, then "Broadband Connection, DSL Connection and it should show in Link Information Bandwidth (Up/Down) in kbps.

810743 2009-10-10 18:35:00 You can check Your internet speed in the site
My word, that site is fast! It moved Xnet's office to Mount Cook before I could even blink, never spilled a drop of the staff coffee either.
Sort of gives all the information you are never likely to need, and keeps the speed secret too. ;)

810744 2009-10-11 00:43:00 Speedtest.net is often up to 50% inaccurate due to the fact its single source and if any of the hops is slow the result is slow, may as well use a random number generator lol

I am blown away journalists use this rubbish when rating ISP's when they should be real world testing with multi source downloads from known fast sources.

810745 2009-10-11 02:58:00 Yeah the best way to test your real download speed is with a real download.

Sync rates in your router can be a good start but the actual throughput is usually lower so they are not as accurate as download tests
