When is the ad going live?

I would be very interested in the outcome as I have considered this myself but haven't been keen on the financial outlay. It's a nice thing to gauge the performance of, because I would expect that the day it goes on the air there would (hopefully) be a noticeable and measurable reaction.

810686 2009-09-16 08:06:00 The ad went live today, It turns out I had quite a few hundred dollars credit at the radio station from when I closed down Computer medic, At the time I paid out the duration of my contract but the advertising manager had taken the unusual step of cancelling my contract when I closed my doors.

They could have told me sooner :horrified

Anyway, this means we have 2 months of very high saturation with the ads, there are two others in a similer fashion. then we will drop the amount of ads to 1/10 and do some specifically promoting weddings and balls.

An immediate impact? I wouldn't expect it (phone didn't ring today as far as I am aware and any increased web traffic would be distorted by this very thread....Perhaps I jumped the gun:xmouth:) I consider it more for the purpose of brand building/raising the profile of the business so its not an unknown rather then causing multiple people to ring after hearing the ad.

Though we are of course keeping a close eye on how many clients it does attract, we have a number in mind that would make the cost acceptable....But the projected number is quite low, then of course the much desired word of mouth can kick in.

Within the industry up to 2 years is considered a reasonable time frame for a competent nail technician to build up a full clientele for 50 hours of work a week.

810687 2009-09-16 08:09:00 Wedding/ball season creates a huge demand around town,

Young trendies aren't really the target market for the nails but more nail art will definitely be making its way into the gallery.

Young Trendies go to School balls and they would be in the market then. Parents pay........

So school newsletters too?

810688 2009-09-16 08:23:00 Good Images, (I'm sure I have seen this site from this forum before...

It does take work, if you want to promote your web site, to increase visitors (unless pay Google to display Ads about your business). These tips have worked for my blogs/sites..Maybe try them...

-Include more content (e.g. background, personal profile, etc), so that Google when Google re-indexes, it will store those keywords for internet searchers - and increase visitor hits. Google preys not only on quality but relevant content for it's database... to display for it's searchers.

- I suggest use the free Google Keyword Tool (adwords.google.com) (used by millions of web/blog niche market/ web business owners). It's a great program to suggest alternative keywords, and assess the number of local/world wide searches for your main keywords. Click show all, in the drop down box to display monthly keyword visits, ad value, etc. Must have program to help increase visitors.

- Embed Google Analytics (www.google.com) to track dozens of useful parameters, e.g. most used searchers keywords, top landing pages, market segments, location, unique visits, bounce rate, etc. Don't get put off with the complexities of the program, as you can customize to display what stats you want. You can create filter and funnels to see how visitors are navigating through your site's pages (i.e. entry/exit points), and thus optimize.

- Also maybe sign up with the simpler Google Webmaster Tools, to track local searchers terms, diagnostics, stats, back links, etc.

- Create and maybe embed a Google Map (You need a Google account), believe me it works to increase visitors, for a hotel site of mine. I get visits from my own map (when people search via Google maps) which have place markers (say with your address) - and you can add links/photo's to your web site in the dialog box. Further, you can add your business, somewhere in Google maps system, and it gets listed in the "10 pack", e.g. if you type pizza in Google search bar it displays a 10 pack results of local pizza outlets, if you see what I mean. But sometimes a "3 pack" is displayed, if too few local business sites. These always standout on page 1 in search results - quite effective.

- Submit your site to a NZ search engine, e.g. NZS Com (http://www.nzs.com/). There are others. They will list your site (but requires a link to them), but your site will get ranked up in search results. I have seen the effects of directories.

- To further rank in Google search, try to get authoritative back links from similar sites; It's known to rapidly increase your rank, so perhaps email contact other sites/blogs similar to yours. (use Yahoo Site Explorer (http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/) to check back links to your site) - and any competitors.

- Create/Advertise an article/ezine or "hub ( in free article directories (e.g. GoArticles (http://www.goarticles.com/" target="_blank">hubpages.com/)" in free article directories (e.g. GoArticles (http:)) about your business, and link it back to your site. It works to increase your site's listing (and new visits) in search results. But may take a little while, make sure to include a back link in the resource box, to prevent/reduce others from copying your work.

There are other techniques, to increase visitors, but all involve work as above. Larger companies, use Google Adwords (www.google.com %2Fgaiaauth%3Fapt%3DNone%26ugl%3Dtrue), and pay them to display their ads on the search results...lot easier, but it costs...

The keyword was nails.

Young trendies aren't really the target market for the nails

This is because of the on going expense and appointments, The youngsters never stick to it long enough and the parents generally aren't interested in continually paying for it. The ideal is to have a core of customers who regularly make appointments for the upkeep of their nails, If you end up with people who don't stick to it then you need a constant stream of new customers.

However the youngsters make up the bulk of the business for ball season in regards to make-up (and to a lesser extent temporary nails) we are looking at ways to get the word to them, Parents I believe are more happy to pay a one off for a specific event, I'd also assume that word of mouth would spread like wildfire amongst young girls.

So.....School newsletters has definitely been added to the list:clap
