810931 2009-09-17 05:17:00 I applied when the maoris sent out stuff for hapu about 6 years ago, I put my name down as Ngai Tahu.
They have sent me screes of stuff which I have dutifully replied to. I have zero maoris blood but I have an affinity with the maoris especially with all the treaty money they have.

What are my chances

Now that you have confessed in public - zero.

810935 2009-09-17 06:17:00 I wouldn't be surprised if they actually own the internet, or at least have a case to put forward as to why it should be awarded to them.

Maori party are probably already doing the paper work.

810936 2009-09-17 06:33:00 Well, is there some way to prove one is a Maori?

I could always pretend to have maori blood, I guess. :D

810937 2009-09-17 07:20:00 Just eat one then you can claim it as your heritage gary67 (56)
810938 2009-09-17 07:42:00 But I felt Maori, once I had a Maori girlfriend.
Maybe I should have picked a large NI tribe instead of Ngai Tahu.

810939 2009-09-17 09:05:00 And now the government is thinking of paying out the leaky homes with taxpayers money.

So they should. It's a government departments fault for approving the building regulations & materials of the time. They should pay for all the houses to be repaired. Could you imagine being stuck with a bill for $200k to repair your house? The owner rarely builds their own house.

810940 2009-09-17 11:15:00 Well actually the Architects who specced these materials, the council inspectors who approved the build quality and signed them off have way more to answer than the builders who just did as they were asked. But do you see the former two putting their hands up no the architects are keeping very quite about their faults as usual.

As a former builder I know how many architects mistakes are made on jobs and they never bear the consequences. I could name one job that cost the building company over $110k because the architect failed to write one thing on the specification sheet. So no tax payers should not be paying. Why do you think the new laws regarding licensing of builders are being bought in it is because the councils don't want to accept responsibility for signing off buildings they want to say yes we signed it off but you are the licensed builder so it's your fault even though we have said it's fine
