1106523 2010-06-04 05:11:00 Hi Team,
So I had a call from my wife this morning saying that their head office sent them a fax advising them that there work PC is sending spam or is infect with a virus. I went to her work a lunch and noticed the anti virus was turned off... so I turned it back on. I installed, updated and ran malwarebytes. It detected 2 objects. I restarted the PC to remove the detected objects. I updated NOD32 ver 4.0 and ran a smart scan - all OK so I went back to work. My wife called back a little later and said that her internet explorer keeps opening up when she closes it down. Hmmm :annoyed:
Any ideas on what additional tools I can run to see if the PC is infected? Should I install a firewall app? What firewall app is recommended to monitor incoming/outgoing connections?

Cheers

1106524 2010-06-04 05:33:00 What were the infections, if you can remember, that you did clean out.

Which Operating System.

Did you do the scans in SafeMode.

I would suggest some of the following.

Do a HiJack and post the results so someone with more knowledge of reading the results may be able to help.

Run Malwarebytes in Safe Mode.

Comodo would be my choice of Firewalls as it does both in coming and out going connections.

Run NOD32 in Safe Mode.

Turn off System Restore if it is enabled.

When Internet Explorer opens, is it taking her to a specific page or it opens to her normal home page.

Maybe have a look in Start > Run > type in msconfig > see what programs are showing in StartUp.

That would be a start.

1106525 2010-06-04 05:34:00 First of all I would run a FULL scan with Nod32, not a smart scan.

Sure it may take longer, but its more in depth - often where bugs "hide".

Also go into the Setup settings under configurations and make sure its configured to look for every thing This pic As shown here (www.imagef1.net.nz) is Smart Security - but the AV part is the same as Nod32 on its own.

OOPS-- Top Arrow in pic should be pointing at CONFIGURE
