1106413 2010-06-03 10:45:00 Hi, older pc running xp, not sure which service pack installed, likely part 1, got home tonight, wont connect to the net, is hooked up via wired network(working) as our wireless laptop connects, the browser says offline, checking the network connection it says connected and firewalled, I changed the DNS Settings to my isp rather than auto and still no good, I am sure this is something really basic but lost at the moment, any ideas gratefully received. toddh (6125)
1106414 2010-06-03 10:53:00 What version of IE is on it? What firewall is on it (besides windows firewall)? Have you been using a proxy? Even tho the browser may not work, are there any programs on it that can update? Check the hosts file, and see if there's something that shouldnt be there Speedy Gonzales (78)

1106417 2010-06-03 12:38:00 Have you rebooted your modem/router? That is where I start, then reboot computer, then start looking. supergran (108)
