1106406 2010-06-03 08:37:00 Away from home with a laptop , has anyone found an economic option that does not need a land-line ? ( other than free wireless networks)
i.e looking for a service available for low usage ( 500 mb )monthly on t-stick or similar without fees for no usage and no roll over of unused data.
Any experiences please.

1106407 2010-06-03 08:52:00 If you have a Vodafone mobile you could get a 1GB plan on your mobile ($40) and tether it to your laptop.
You will need a phone that can do it, most nokias can do it and the software is free (just download the Ovi suite) I'm not sure if Motorallas can do it but you have to pay for the software.
I have a Nokia N95 and a $10 data plan (100MB) mainly for emails on my phone but I use it for internet on my laptop every now and then, it's quite handy.

1106408 2010-06-03 09:25:00 thanks have an older voda that I have used overseas. Not sure if it would fulfill this role. will investigate that further. Trying to get away from paying for a landline at 2nd home and still have basic internet access.
Thanks again

1106409 2010-06-03 11:46:00 Telecom T-stick works really well and you can put it on pre-pay. nate (15033)
1106410 2010-06-03 12:37:00 2nd for Telecom T-stick. They have/had a deal where they were giving them away to Telecom broadband users. On pre pay $30 per month for 300Mb and once 300Mb reached they provide another 200mb for free for remainder of that month. If you don't use the original 300mb then the remaining $$ go over to the next month but you have to top up with $30 to get the free 200Mb.

Great for occasional use and may be suitable for you. They have plans as well of course.

1106411 2010-06-03 20:56:00 I would say T-stick dongle . Faster than Voda afaik .
Get a low users plan if the prepay are not enof . Can get a non commital monthly plan .

Can use a mobile phone sure . But dongle is less hassle .

Ps, I saw the new ad . . I think it might work . Has that human touch to it . . . .
