1105803 2010-06-01 12:17:00 I am Running XP Pro and using Avast Amti Virus.

Any thoughts on the best free Firewall at present.

I'm tossing up between ZoneAlarm, Comodo, & Sygate. Or plain-jane windows firewall?

1105804 2010-06-01 12:20:00 Are you using a mode/router with firewall? If you are, I wouldnt bother with a separate firewall Speedy Gonzales (78)

Those work great at stopping inbound attacks, but won't stop malicious or unwanted outbound traffic.

1105807 2010-06-01 21:18:00 Comodo is what I use. PinoyKiw (9675)
1105808 2010-06-01 21:28:00 Unless you have paid for it I would recommend ditching Avast and running MSSE with Windows Firewall.

This setup works well for me

Yer I know that. Just dont do / get anything dodgy. Then you wont need another one. Just install a decent AV program

1105812 2010-06-01 23:11:00 I use Comodo.

And I want to know everything that is trying to connect from my PC, and I stop everything possible no matter how legit it is, Its also a good indicator of crap that has installed itself to run in the background for no other reason then to suck up resources and report to its masters, and that is the
"legit" crap.
