| 811857 | 2009-09-19 05:55:00 | I need a good Skype Phone. Can you suggest a good quality Skype phone. Also are the voice calls over skype clear quality wise. Also if someone has had experiences with a wireless skype phone please share any issues. I wanted to buy a wireless Skype phone but they are bit expensive and also i am afraid connection maybe frequently lost over wifi so i am going with corded one |

| 811858 | 2009-09-19 06:42:00 | Skype phones are just microphones made into a regular telephone, therefore the quality should be the same as any computer microphones. The call quality largely depends on the Internet speed. Cheers :) |

| 811859 | 2009-09-19 07:37:00 | Skype should be fine over wireless, but what is your internet speed? Skype doesn't require a very fast BB connection, but it shouldn't be *too* slow.. There is a philips one that has had pretty good review, search on google;) Blam |

They can be picky to get a connection so you need to learn that when you get it . SMC also makes them I think, pretty much dissapeared off the shops thou, they used to have them but not anymore . Quality I see no difference to Skype on my computer . People have said that Skype is clearer than standard telephone . I recently tried video to video calling Vodafone to Vodafone after getting a new phone, that is disgusting, no lighting, pixelated, also slow - jittery . Skype video is awesome . Not sure if you can get video on the phones that work without a computer thou, might be top end thou . Audio only, I am on 256k speed and it is fine . |

Having 128k upload will mean that if you're doing other browsing whilst on a call, the quality may quickly deteriorate. Technically speaking I believe it's possible to make a call whilst on 64k capped upload speed, but if somebody even so much as farts near your modem, you'll probably suffer loss of packets / quality ;) Seriously though, why not just get yourself a bluetooth headset & receiver? Quite often they're cheaper than even the corded phones (Both for <$100), and it's a much nicer overall solution too :) |
