811958 2009-09-20 12:19:00 For future reference (or now if it helps) if you owe somebody or a company money, they have no choice but to accept cash as payment. Of course a witness in this instance could be a good idea, but if you turn up with cash they MUST accept it as full payment for the debt.

Disclaimer: Forgive me if I'm somehow wrong.

Disclaimer: Forgive me if I'm somehow wrong. As far as I'm aware, you're wrong if there is a pre-existing contract that requires a particular payment type or method. Otherwise yeah, cash must be accepted.

Interesting. However in that case surely it would just be a matter of delivering payment by that method. I assumed the same rule would apply. Turn up at door with payment, person would be obliged to accept. If the contract said that they didn't have to accept payment then I suppose timaru07 would be out of luck.

Seems a rather odd situation.

811964 2009-09-20 21:25:00 Look I tell you what, I'll take the payment for the horse. They're happy, they don't accept payment. You're happy, you've paid somebody. I'm happy, I'm sure horses aren't cheap. Everybody is happy! ;) Chilling_Silence (9)

Cause they want to be able to repossess the horse, I think.
