1106326 2010-06-02 23:10:00 Hello All.

Is anybody getting AOL generated Spam? How do you report it?

I have Googled but apparently they do not have a working spam report address. Thanks. PJ

1106328 2010-06-03 00:43:00 Is the spam actually getting generated by a AOL customer ? or are you assuming it is AOL generated because the alleged sender has a AOL address ?

I get about once a week a flood of German language spam, all with a various AOL addresses. Tracking shows it comes from China as is the websites that the spam promotes. The alleged senders AOL address is just that, a fake return address using AOL as the senders address.

You could screen your mail using PopTray or Mailwasher and delete any mail not wanted while still on your ISP's mail server.

I don't know about PopTray but Mailwasher I think only screens mail on your ISP's own mail server, not Gmail, Hotmail or the like.

If you wanted to report the spammers, there are options such as SpamCop. Mailwasher allows you to send spam direct to SpamCop from which they generate the spam reports for you to follow through on.

If you have been using abuse at AOL is I beleive a dead address.

If it is spam that you are see'ing, then most likely the AOL address you are see'ing in the senders address will be fake. The spam will be coming via spambots.

Spammers don't care, as long as they get there junk out to you, thats all that matters, they don't care how much trouble they cause AOL or Xtra or Gmail when half there spam bounces back to the fake sender.

Consider the option of screening your mail with something like Mailwasher.

AOL won't be remotely interested in any spam reports unless the spam has come from a genuine AOL customer.
