1105969	2010-06-02 03:59:00	Because my new motherboard only had 1 IDE port, I had to buy a card with another port. But then I needed an extra long cable because the DVD drives are up the top right and the card is down the bottom left I bought a 800mm IDE cable from eBay which seems to work fine, but I'm concerned that this spec-violating cable may cause problems in the form of data corruption due to interference. Is there any software (Windows or otherwise) which can tell if there is a problem of this kind?	Agent_24 (57)

Unfortunately that won't work as they are DVD\CD-RW drives not hard drives. ide errors will appear in the event viewer. At least they did for me in Vista and Win 7 when I was having problems Thanks, forgot about that one. I'm not sure though as to how bad the error has to be before it appears in there though. If the data being read from the DVD becomes corrupted on the wire due to interference, then the controller will request that the data be resent. Will Windows pick up on this or will the controller just transparently request the resend and not tell Windows?	Agent_24 (57)
