813013 2009-09-23 09:37:00 What sort of Backups do you want to do - whole system, or certain file s and folders. wainuitech (129)
813014 2009-09-23 10:22:00 Windows Backup (www.neowin.net) in Window 7 seems to work OK, have only used it to test out, nothing too complicated. sal (67)
813015 2009-09-23 10:30:00 I've been using W7 with [edit] for a while now, works fine.

You only need [edit] if you want the backup the actual "OS" as well as your data, incase you get a nasty virus or you change a system setting and it causes the OS to not boot etc

813016 2009-09-23 11:23:00 Previous versions of Acronis wont clone correctly Windows 7 - every time I have tried it always fails, its to do with the way Windows 7 laid out.

I have tried it 6-8 times and never has it cloned correctly, you always have to repair the OS before it will boot - doing that IS NOT a true clone of the drive. It goes through the process, and all appears to work, but it doesn't. If you actually read the spec's even acronis says previous versions wont support W7. Here (www.acronis.com)

Other OS's, 98 -Vista work fine.

Just bringing the New version through now.

813017 2009-09-23 11:37:00 Good news everyone! [edited]Are you associated with Acronis?

Nevermind, just looked at your IP: The host name is: 9.nat.acronis.net

DAmn no New Zealand pricing hate it when they do that. I have Acronis 11 and so if i want to use it on Win & I have to upgrade, what a nuisance

813019 2009-09-23 22:27:00 Slight opps there - Amend my comments -:o Acronis 11 DOES clone W7 OK - I normally use Acronis 10 or workstation, and those did fail.

Just remembered I had 11 tucked away - tried it, and this time it did clone OK.

That as going from a SATA drive to an IDE.

Just remember though, cloning is different to backing up.

813020 2009-09-23 23:21:00 FTR I've been using Acronis 11 since W7 came out and never had an issue. :) wratterus (105)
