| 812663 | 2009-09-22 03:22:00 | www.stuff.co.nz How bad is this!! Copied below in case they fix it... It's one way for fashionistas to get around luggage restrictions wear their excess baggage. The women of Wellington fashion label Basquesse boarded their flight to Auckland Fashion Week modelling African-inspired, made-to-order hats. Designer Viviana Pannell, husband Colin and three staff Emily Villiers, Cheryl Brennan and Veerle Janssens had arrived at Wellington Airport with handbags, suitcases and an industrial iron, but stopped short of wearing full couture outfits on the plane. "I think we're the only ones who bring our own iron we have a lot of silks and things, and the ones they have there just don't cut it," Mr Pannell said. This will be Basquesse's third Fashion Week. The winter 2009-10 collection, which will be shown this afternoon at Auckland's Viaduct Harbour Marine Village, is inspired by the Masai Mara region of Kenya. Today's show is the result of nearly five months' work by Mrs Pannell and her team. "We started in early May with the concepts and drawings, and the last garment was finished on Thursday." The African-inspired hats are the creations of fellow Kiwi designer Liz Foreman. "Liz and I collaborate quite a bit she's extremely talented but this is the first time I've used her accessories at Fashion Week." Peruvian-born Mrs Pannell moved to Wellington more than 15 years ago with her British husband the name Basquesse is a tribute to her father, who was born in the Basque region of France. Despite nerves, Mrs Pannell and her team were abuzz with excitement. "We're a box of ducklings." |

| 812666 | 2009-09-22 04:59:00 | Possibly "Need grammar. I think so." may have been a better title though. I wasn't sure what grammer was. |

| 812668 | 2009-09-22 05:22:00 | I know how to spell grammar. ;) The title was tongue in cheek. It probably should have actually been "Need grammar? I think so!". Fair enough. I was just making the point that if you live in a glass house it may not be a good idea to throw stones. Much like this other mob of people:- In the days of primitive tribes and grass huts, there was one tribe which was very warlike. They won many battles, and took control of many other tribes. One of their customs when they beat another tribe was to take the most prized posession of the enemy's chief. One time, after a particularly fierce battle they defeated a rich tribe, whose king had a prized solid gold throne. Our warlike tribe took the throne, and put it in the loft in their cheif's house. Unfortunately, the throne was much too heavy to be kept in a loft in a grass house, and it fell right through the ceiling, onto the chief, killing him instantly. The Moral of this story is...... People who live in Grass Houses shouldn't stow thrones! |
