813226 2009-09-25 20:39:00 What are the chances she will get a "limited work license" on the grounds that she will not afford to support herself/hardship once she get's out of HD or whatever she has?

Extremely mega high.

813227 2009-09-25 22:48:00 Might as well return her licence, she just got away with killing a child, Whats the point of pretending to punish her?

She can have more kids right?

813228 2009-09-25 23:02:00 I completely agree people shouldn't be getting into cars with drugs or over the alcohol limit, and there is no doubt imprisonment is appropriate sometimes. But there was nothing soft about the sentence that was imposed however, and it will be a more productive than throwing her in jail, which achieves nothing. People should face the consequences but the consequences don't always have to be imprisonment, or shooting, or hanging or the other things you guys pretend you would carry out. Fact is you're not in jail yourself because you don't really do what you say.

The problem you are having, is you are dealing with a bunch of forum members that have never committed a crime or broken any law.

So you think convicted criminals and law breakers are the ones to go to for a balanced and valid view on crime and punishment?

Taking that to its logical conclusion, those that have murdered would be the ones to talk to about how to treat murderers?

Nice logic :waughh::waughh::waughh:

well, considering they want to do it because they enjoy extreme violence and couldn't give a damn about his crime, hell are probably jealous of his notoriety and see him as an easy target unworthy of his status I wouldn't be ascribing it to any bizarre form of prison justice, Its just scum on scum.

I would say we are also dealing with people who have never been on a jury as will. I have been on 4.

Well I've never broken a law but I'd say the problem is people who think imprisonment solves everything . I worked in the Justice system for thirteen years, and I've probably seen more of it than most on here . As a prosecutor I lost the odd case on technicalities so I know the frustration as well, and I've spent more time inside prisons than most of you as well, so I know pretty much what most of them are really like .

I've also had to recommend whether people go to jail and whether people get out of jail, so pretty much had to deal with the real issues here and it can be far more difficult when you have all the facts .

It is easy to spout off this hard line BS but you've never had to actually front an offender or a victim after a fatal road crash, I have on many occasions . Surprisingly, victims are often more compassionate than the people on here, even when they have lost someone close to them they often don't want to see the offender in jail .

Judges have to weigh up all the factors, they don't live in the fantasy world many of you do where you're some kind of wild west vigilante mob .

813235 2009-09-26 01:42:00 Imprisonment solves everything because when the scum are in jail they cant re offend.
With double bunking and making scum criminals live in shipping containers might go a distance to solving our crime rate.
People working in the justice industry are the last people who can offer good advice.
They always forget about the victim of the crime they are only interested in criminal peoples welfare.
The vehicle is a red herring it doesn't matter whether you use a car or a knife or an MP40 killing is killing.
