812906 2009-09-23 07:45:00 Hmmmm. I can get him off the Bus on SH1 and get them to your place.
Only around 35-40 K

Good idea sweep.I think it would be nicer to pick them up from Auckland Airport. Not much fun trying to sort out bus trips on your first visit to a country.
I can do that if needed. It sounds like they havent travelled much and jet lag is a big thing if you are not used to it. Even though I travelled regularly to the States it took me at least three days to take a real interest in my surroundings.

I think if Joe and his wife do come out it would be worth getting together and planning an itinarary.

812907 2009-09-23 08:00:00 True but there will no doubt be lots of things for them to do in Auckland before heading South. Like a PressF1 lunch for a start I guess. Sweep (90)

812909 2009-09-23 15:20:00 This is getting more and more interesting .

I'm gonna be finishing up the move for the next ten days or so, then onto dial-up that is slower than smoke signals and we'll get this all sorted out .

Things should have settled down by the first weekend of October, I hope .

3 or 4 weeks might be nicer . It won't affect the airfare, so it might be a lot nicer that way .

What does NZ charge to immigrate with Social Security guaranteed checks, monthly so I won't have to be in competition with the local employment factor?

Belize has sent me invitations every few months to retire there as I meet all their requirements and won't work for a living - but spend retirement my funds there .

I've got to go out and get my useless son-in-law to start taking down our chain link fence on the North side of the property here in Hemet so I can get the moving trailer onto the site and start hauling out some big stuff .

Monday, the rest of the fencing comes down and I haul it and my tool shed and all the tools in it to Anza - about 50 miles away (64 klicks) .

Breakfast awaits - waffles, drenched in drawn butter, m/maple syrup, three eggs-poached and a slab of butcher-ground sausage patty - hot Indonesian Roasted coffee and half&half .

OK - English lesson I guess!

"Drawn Butter" = melted butter, served usually in a small cup or flan cup that is poured upon or foodstuffs dunked into for the act of adding butter to the food just prior to the moment of consumption ie: at the table and usually on the serving platter .

"Half&half" = 50% thick cream (usually 'whipping-type') and 50% of 3% milk, by volume .

BTW: 3% milk is the normal cream:milk ratio for milk sold in the US . It is marked with a red cap on the bottles, whereas blue tops are for 2% or less butterfat in the homogenized version . The cream percentile is the only number usually reported and the straight milk portion is understood .

812913 2009-09-23 20:18:00 I suspect a "PressF1 Get Together" may be scheduled for each major centre you visit....

We may have to find somewhere a little more salubrious than the Albert Street Food Court in Auckland to take Joe and Rosanna though!!!Balls mate.. that foodcourt represents a huge number of NZ residents! ;)

I reckon I've been there maybe 8 or more times. Haven't you been there? The variety is fantastic. It almost makes me wish I was back in Auckland!

Anyway... back to Napier... I'm still unfamiliar with the local restaurants, but me and my brother sure know how to cook a great home dinner. And of course the local fresh fish is world class!

Why the fixation with asian eateries in the central city.
There is more to Auckland than the CBD in fact I have refuse to go into the city unless there is an urgent need I despise the place. but I am a country boy.
