812761 2009-09-22 20:18:00 We don't watch movies.
We don't watch sport.
We don't watch sitcoms - American, NZ or other.

We do watch the doco channels on SKy, I also watch Food TV when husband is not around.

SO I couldn't go back to normal TV ever.

812762 2009-09-22 20:24:00 We hardly ever watch TV - but if we do, it is freeview DVB-s, or lately DVB-t, thanks to a tri-mode TV card in the computer. None of us wish to see the subscribed ads so it is normal TV for us, the rich people can watch the sub-normal service.

I am glad we have a choice, even if it is a choice among garbage flavours.

812763 2009-09-22 20:59:00 As I am still "working" and not rich I would not get Sky as I would spend too much time watching it.
I don't like sport - so there's another reason.
I have been staying at my Mums and aside from some of the Docos, there is not much to watch. Even the BBC and Sky news etc, get a bit much after a while.
And they seem to repeat their docos throughout the month, so you do not really get that many programs.

812764 2009-09-22 21:10:00 Food TV FTW! Loved that while we were staying with relatives over the christmas holidays last year, so good :D

When you look at it that way, $30,000 .... or SkyTV ... I dunno, it seems like a *lot* of money ... + interest PA on it, I wonder what it'd work out to :D

812765 2009-09-22 21:25:00 Wonder how many without Sky are going to be pissed now that sky has the 2010 c/weath games now.. No FTA on TVNZ.. paulw (1826)
812766 2009-09-22 22:25:00 Well I don't have Sky and I have no intention of getting it ever!

Not worth the money in my view for the amount of TV I watch.

I can go rent six movies for eight days for $11.00 and once a month I can get six movies for $5.00 for eight days with the coupons I have.

812767 2009-09-22 22:30:00 I love the Food TV channel, especially the British programmes. If ever the other TV channels lift their game to include enough of the specialty programmes, it will be goodbye Sky. Somehow pigs might have to sprout wings before that happens.

It is an extra expense, but neither of us smoke, so we feel we can justify it.

812769 2009-09-22 22:47:00 The only channels I look at other than the ones already on freeview are spysport 1 and 2, discovery and the music channels. wratterus (105)
