| 1107236 | 2010-06-08 11:10:00 | Alright, I came home with a Belkin G modem router. This one. www.pbtech.co.nz I was warned away from the linksys ones, and another brand which I can't remember now. But now I've now got my two desktops and laptop networking nicely, all with internet access. And the modem doesn't look too shabby either, all black and green LED's matching my logitech speakurz and OCZ mouse with its pretty led's. Just wondering though, what's the best secure setup you can have for a modem? When I set the modem up I enabled WPA PSK2 encryption, set a nice long passphrase, and setup mac filtering to only allow my PC's to have outgoing connections. I did have the SSID stop broadcasting after I had the connection to my laptop going, but afterwards I had a few problems with it. It created 3 connections, 2 instances of my "Strange network" and an 'other network' which should have been my sis's bf's network upstairs. But after I disabled it and restarted the router twice it seems to be going all fine and dandy. Do you guys reckon it'll be secure enough now? Also, strange, this router is missing a power switch. |

Oh i'm sure I'll get the hand of this new modem soon. Anyway, thanks for all your help once again, press f1. |
