1107603 2010-06-07 04:55:00 Does anyone know if you could install xp on one of them. they come with CE and from what i've heard it's crap and is more commonly found on PDA's. They have no CD drive so I guess bootable USB is the only way. I'm guessing it's possible but just double checking before I buy one.

Specs:
128mb RAM
8gb HD
3x USB 2.0
Ethernet
WIFI
300mhz Processor
Windows CE 6.0
7" Screen

Total: $98

Here if you don't know what I'm talking about (www.trademe.co.nz)

1107606 2010-06-07 05:09:00 No because Windows doesn't run on ARM processors, only x86. trinsic (6945)
1107607 2010-06-07 05:13:00 Yup looks like youre right it wont work with any x86 windows OS. Just linux, Google Android, or CE Speedy Gonzales (78)
1107608 2010-06-07 05:23:00 Is 2000 or 98 x86? icow (15313)
1107609 2010-06-07 05:27:00 The only Windows you're going to be running is CE. trinsic (6945)
1107610 2010-06-07 05:28:00 Both are 32 bit Speedy Gonzales (78)

1107612 2010-06-07 05:46:00 Some of those cheap netbooks do have x86 CPUs but not the real cheap ones.

However the cheap ones should be able to run some kind of Linux if you don't like Windows CE - but it will be very slow.

Buy a second hand EeePC, it will be a bit more expensive but much faster and much better quality...
