| 1107325 | 2010-06-06 08:48:00 | This one seems a bit weird. I can't log into my Ascent Technology account from my desktop computer. The browser (Firefox 3.6.3 or IE8) always times out with the "server not responding" message, but I can move anywhere else around the Ascent site without difficulty. The weird bit is that I can successfully log on from either of two laptops. Internet connection is made via a Linksys WRT54G router to a cable modem through Paradise. The desktop uses a wired connection, the laptops both use wireless through the same router. Desktop and one laptop run under Windows 7 x64, the other laptop uses Windows XP Pro (32-bit). What condition in the desktop computer could make it unable to open one particular page on one particular web site and yet not have any problem with any other site (that I have been able to determine)? Any suggestions gratefully received. Replacing wireless by wired connection on the Win 7 laptop still allows me to log on. |

Try clearing out the temp files / cache. Also check the HOST file is not blocking the log in. Possible their server is not authenticating (Possible they use a different server for the Log ins) |

Many months ago I tried to be clever and put Ascent's URL into my Hosts file - and got it wrong! Many thanks, I knew this was the right place to ask. Hard to sit down with your tail between your legs. |
