1106935 2010-06-05 01:28:00 Hi all .

I've read somewhere before that Win 7 is currently not compatible with SATA 3 6 . 0Gb/s Hdds . Is this this true? I installed a Western Digital Black SATA 3 harddrive and Win 7 is not picking it up in My Computer . I had Win 7 installed a WD Black SATA 2 drive . Is this because they are not compatible? The SATA 3 drive does show up in the ASUS MB BIOS, just not in Windows .

I bought the system from XP Computer Warehouse . The person there told me he isn't aware of any problems with SATA 3 and Win 7 . Maybe he's right and I haven't done something correctly?

I currently have them on 1 SATA power cable, the hdd (SATA 2 500Gb) is the primary drive, while the 1Tb SATA 3 is set as the secondary drive .

Thanks, appreciate any help .

1106936 2010-06-05 01:32:00 I think so. You may have to wait for SP1 before SATA 3 works Speedy Gonzales (78)
1106937 2010-06-05 02:05:00 Is it initialised and formated?
Does it appear in disk management?

1106938 2010-06-05 06:21:00 I'm a bit embarrassed to say that all I had to do was format the drive in the Storage Manager.

I just installed Win 7 yesterday so not very familiar with it at all, have been using XP for the last 5 years.
