RIP Sir Howard. He was probably one of NZs most respected entertainers. I remember as a boy seeing him and his quartet playing at the Rotorua Soundshell over the Christmas and New Year holiday period around about 1960.

813139 2009-09-24 01:08:00 The Latin for RIP is Requiescat in Pace and was mostly used in Catholic funeral services. Nowadays it is used for any Christian service, although I doubt that many would know the Latin unless they were Catholic.
