| 813102 | 2009-09-23 15:28:00 | " . . . about global warming and greenhouse gas emissions", said the prez:Obama . And, continuing: "The US's gaseous emissions has been greatly downsized in the last eight-months and the US is now a leader in control and elimination of these gasses" . Uh huh! Since gas cost so much and the economy has tanked, of course there's fewer emissions - nobody can afford to drive their cars any more . Interesting LA/Times front page this morning: . latimes . com/news/local/" target="_blank">www . latimes . com BIG gang busts and new fires . |

| 813107 | 2009-09-24 02:10:00 | We have 4 of them here in Hemet for fire-fighting purposes . The newest is the 747 foam-dropping planes, the Lockheed P2V-5 Neptune, the Grumman S-2F 3AT Turbo-Tracker, and several more . Pix #1- CDF S-2 aircraft dropping fire retardant on ridge fire, right on target . Hemet, CA, Pix #2- CDF - Helicopter landing to remove ground crew members, typically not done . Pix #3- They sometimes get pretty close . Here's a spotter and a bomber in CBDR or Constant Bearing, Diminishing Range position . CDF CAL-FIRE OV-10 AND S-2 In Tight Formation Pix #4- CDF Grumman S-2F 3AT Turbo Tanker dropping a load . Pix #5- "Super Scooper" rising from Silverwood Lake near Cajon Summit, CA . , with a load of water to drop . These originally came from Canada, but they are made and kept here now too . Most time, when I hear the distinctive sounds of a Cessna "Skymaster" going near vertical from Hemet/Ryan Airport, I know there's a fire somewhere . They use the two-engined Skymasters since they can cruise on one engine for hours, saving fuel to keep them up longer for spotting . Hope your cap is fresh - here's a shot of the DC10 up-tight and personal! . flightglobal . com/blogs/aircraft-pictures/DC-10%20water%20bomber . jpg" target="_blank">www . flightglobal . com . 10tanker . com/images/home_image2 . jpg" target="_blank">www . 10tanker . com . 10tanker . com/images/home_image . jpg" target="_blank">www . 10tanker . com . flightglobal . com/blogs/aircraft-pictures/assets_c/2009/04/DC-10%20water%20bomber-thumb-450x300 . jpg" target="_blank">www . flightglobal . com |
