1108999 2010-06-11 01:22:00 This morning I got up and restarted my computer... when I got back into Windows (7 Pro 64) I had a message come up before the desktop appeared that said something like
Windows is not Genuine, you may be the victim of software piracy, to check if your Windows is genuine click this link...so I clicked the link and let it do its thing... then it said Office (2007 Premium) needed to check that it was genuine.

After almost giving me a heart-attack, both went through fine... I then get my desktop up and Microsoft Security Essentials pops up with the same message, telling me to check that Windows is genuine (which it did for me).

So anyways, everything is working as per normal now that Windows has decided again that I am genuine owner... but why did it do it? Is it something that Windows 7 and Office 2007 now do? Every few months ask to re-activate or whatever?? Was a bit of a shock when I first saw it "Windows is not genuine" :D

Anyone seen this before? Or should I be worried?

Cheers,
Mike.

1109000 2010-06-11 01:27:00 I run the same software you do except I have Office 2007 pro. There were a lot of updates for Office this week and all mine worked fine. Sweep (90)

PC hasn't been off all week (although restarted a few times)... just this morning after the restart I got those messages. Everything still working fine now.

1109002 2010-06-11 01:35:00 There was an update a short while ago that caused that message on some systems. I had it happen to one of the workshop PC's as well, yet the others were all fine.

Even Office 2010 said it wasn't legit -- Errr hello, only installed that a couple of days ago from the Key MS Supplied.

It was WTF :horrified -- Like hell, it is genuine -- just reactivated it, accepted it and away it goes again -- happy camper.

1109003 2010-06-11 13:13:00 I usually have Automatic updates turned to Manual, but on one box I forgot to do this. A massive update took place and it then told me that "Activation was overdue & restricted me to the system partition "C". I couldn't be bothered so restored it from an Image & is Ok now. I am very selective with the updates. Half of them are for software which is not installed. mzee (3324)

Windows Update is trying to patch software that is not installed on your machine?

Can you please tell us what software. That sounds very unusual

1109005 2010-06-12 10:19:00 After installing Comodo 4 today and doing a reboot I get a message asking me if Windows is genuine click yes or close. I clicked yes and then it said Windows is now validated. Odd.
