1108253 2010-06-09 03:08:00 It's time to upgrade my old 17" monitor. What you folks reckon this Viewsonic (www.pcforce.co.nz)?

Or should I get a LG brand? LGs are pretty cheap, really.

1108257 2010-06-09 04:02:00 If you decide to go for the viewsonic, I've got it, and it's a pretty brilliant monitor. It's got a nice colour range, admittedly it's not as sparkly as my laptop's LED screen but it works well for the price.

It's got some options for the response times, although it doesn't actually come set for 2ms by default, I don't think.
I can adjust it to either "standard" "advanced" or "ultra fast", and when using the ultra fast in cs 1.6, a grenade explosion appeared purple.
There's also a bit of flicker on certain websites using my current colour settings, but my settings ARE rather bright.
And just for the sake of testing it, turning on dynamic contrast and then navigating to the site resolved that issue anyway. I just found that out while writing this :)

I also had a single stuck pixel, but I sorted it, and it's worked fine in the months since.
A friend of mine has the same monitor, he uses it for his Xbox and he loves it too.

Anyway, it's a decent monitor, nice size, good picture quality and a fair few settings to muck around with.
And the inbuilt speakers aren't bad either.

1108258 2010-06-09 04:10:00 I've got the same monitor and I love it! However I've got a few gripes:

-After I had it about 10 months to a year, the blue operating LED (below the screen) started flickering periodically and eventually stopped going altogether.
-The operating and standby LEDs are VERY bright! But a bit of blutak fixed that :D

1108259 2010-06-09 04:37:00 I have had a Viewsonic VX2233WM LCD monitor for 18 months with no problems.

1108260 2010-06-09 06:32:00 Looks like Viewsonic is a better choice than LGs. Personally, I don't quite like Korean products as they pay too much attention to the outer appearances rather than the actual product itself. They all (can it be a cell phone, monitor, mp3 player, ever cars, etc.) 'look' very nice and impressive but the actual products are far, far away from their pretty faces. They are very nice to look at but so nice to use it!

Probably I will grab the Viewsonic in the next couple of days.

Thanks for all the views and opinions.

Cheers
