| 814496 | 2009-09-27 20:52:00 | This just in from the Police site Title: Death of 22 month old in Morrinsville Waikato Police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem being carried out in Auckland today on the body of a young Morrinsville girl who died in Waikato Hospital overnight (27 September). It is hoped the examination will be able to indicate to investigators the cause of the 22-month-old's death. The girl was taken to the hospital yesterday after suffering serious injuries. Police are interviewing a number of people who they believe may be able to help them establishing the cause of her injuries. A Police cordon has been established around a Studholme St address in Morrinsville in order for investigators to identify if there are any links to the property and the child's death. The girl's death has been referred to the Coroner. No further information in relation to this matter will be released today and no member of the inquiry team is available for comment. An update will be issued tomorrow morning. (Quote ends) I leave it up to you to make of this news what you will. But surely there must be only one conclusion ... this mindless killing of our little ones must stop! |

Nice try - no pal of mine, I'd hardly be described as pro-Green. The point is the people who harp on about the right to smack are the ones who harp on about violence, logical inconsistency I'd have thought. I don't care about the anti-smacking bill because it hasn't changed anything other than to remove a potential defence to morons who beat the hell out of kids and sometimes kill them. |

| 814504 | 2009-09-28 00:08:00 | Should we speculate as to the cause of death before the facts are known? Probably not, Sweep, but the same threads come up time and time again in these very objective police reports: "suffering injuries", "interviewing a number of people", "a police cordon has been established", "the girl's death has been referred to the coroner" . The big question is, what as a community can we do, or are willing to do about it? |
