815826 2009-10-01 06:23:00 No. You are probably on the "Go" plan which is a different plan from Go Large.

Go is normally 3GB, slows down to dialup speeds when the cap is used and provides full downstream and upstream ADSL2+ rates (www.telecom.co.nz)

Go Large on the other hand had unlimited data usage, capped upload of 128kbit and did not support ADSL2 or ADSL2+ speeds

However it is now being replaced by the Big Time plan which provides effectively the same plan but with fullspeed ADSL2+ and which costs $10 more.

815828 2009-10-01 08:08:00 I have received the letter also. Have they got the right to do that ? The alternative they propose cost $10 more.

I'm sick of being considered a cash cow by Telecom.

Telecom sees us as nothing less.

815830 2009-10-02 02:13:00 I have called Telecom to cancel my contract - as they are not able to provide the Go Large service any more.

They want to charge me $199 for early termination fees... I'm more than a cash cow here.

815831 2009-10-02 02:17:00 Go large hasn't been available to new customers for some time now. How do you get stuck with an early termination? utopian201 (6245)

Exactly what I was going to say. Go Large hasn't been available for new signups for so long it would be impossible to get stuck with early termination.

Unless Telecom screwed something up seriously

$199? Are you sure you didn't accidentally punch a 1 before the first 9?

I remember (only a couple of years ago) the termination fee was $99!

815834 2009-10-02 03:01:00 Yeah, Telecom sucks.

I shall probably either be reversing to a pity data capped planned, or leaving them. Since I'm not here next year, probably not worth keeping it going.

After this experience, including the issues with my new XT phone, and having to go places to get a replacement etc, because of their mistakes, I shall no longer be using them. Telecom officially sucks. They shall get the publicity on Bebo, Facebook, Myspace and blogs as they deserve.

P.S No offense to those working for Telecom. :P

Sorry I should have been more complete. 3 months ago, I had to sign up for another 24 months to get a replacement modem... That's where the $199 come from. I complained to the customer service at that time - and naturally they did not mention that my plan will stop 3 months later.

I have called again today the customer service, to tell them that I signed up on a 24 months on the understanding that Go Large would continue during that period. They have replied that according to the terms and conditions etc. they do not have to guarantee that a plan will continue.

In short, I have just been screwed !
