815068 2009-09-30 00:53:00 Well you wont know what its like, till you try it Speedy Gonzales (78)
815069 2009-09-30 01:10:00 Why? Its free, no reg like Avast, doesnt slow your system down like AVG ... it's good by me! :D Chilling_Silence (9)
815070 2009-09-30 01:34:00 I've just put it onto my very average Toshiba laptop running XPsp3, will give a critique in a week or so. zqwerty (97)
815071 2009-09-30 04:48:00 Just did a full scan and it has found four nasties on an external HDD that Avast had missed. BigBadBob (14963)
815072 2009-09-30 17:04:00 They missed the ball on this one by making it need WGA to install. If they really wanted to make any difference into cutting down the large amount of spyware and other garbage, they would let all those people with dodgy copys of XP install it. apsattv (7406)
815073 2009-09-30 20:10:00 Was able to scan while using the computer which , given the comp spec i have , is amazing .
One thing i didn;t see that other AntiVirus have , is an e-mail option , does it scan e-mails?
Also is this going to replace Windows Defender?

815074 2009-09-30 20:21:00 It'll turn windows defender off . And it will replace windows defender. I think thats what the option under settings / real-time protection / scan all downloads and attachments does (for email). It'll also check USB removable devices (under advanced). Its not ticked by default. According to the MS forum (social.answers.microsoft.com) it may not scan incoming and outgoing. But it'll scan attachments,if theyre infected Speedy Gonzales (78)
815075 2009-09-30 21:03:00 MSE seems to be getting a lot of positive reviews around the globe - must almost be a first for Microsoft!
Giving that it has been targeted at the home user & not designed to be a be-all & end-all security package/ firewall etc. I would be happy to keep it on my home machine. Time will tell.

815076 2009-09-30 21:15:00 The Microsoft Spynet seems well named.

I am not entirely convinced that giving M$ carte blanche to extract information is a totally wise move. You only have the option to let them have a bit of license to pry, or a lot of license. M$ is the judge of what is a little. I would prefer to have a carte rouge option.

Does anyone know of a reputable A/V company that demands the right to invade your system and take what they wish in this manner? Given M$'s ability to steal the worm from a blind chicken, I am a bit wary.

I forgot, we can all trust Steve Ballmer can't we? He's such a kind, sincere man. Yeah, Right.
