| 1108497 | 2010-06-09 11:54:00 | The laptop used to have a cable LAN connection to a modem (Dynalink ADSL2, which worked perfectly), then I changed it to wireless. It is an old laptop, XP, and I used a wireless USB dongle. After several months for some reason the wireless connection quit working and when I reconnected the cable there is no internet connection. I looked in Network Connections but could not see what to adjust. The two tiny windows in the System Tray indicate that a LAN connection has been made but with no data flow. How do I get SWMBO's laptop back on the Net? | Strommer (42) | ||

| 1108499 | 2010-06-09 20:54:00 | Thanks for the suggestion but there was no "wireless LAN connection" showing in Network Connections. I say "was" because as a last ditch attempt I plugged in an ASUS USB dongle (previously used an Air Live dongle), reset the password, rebooted and bugger-me-days if the internet connection is now restored! So now there is in fact a "wireless LAN connection" showing in Network Connections but there is no need to delete it. :banana |
