I need assistance choosing a compatible graphics card. I have no idea what motherboard is currently installed however below is the processor and pc model number.

AMD Athlon XP Processor Model 2800+

1110244 2010-06-14 09:49:00 Most likely AGP, an obsolete slot. The best you could get is probably a 7800 AGP, which is extremely hard to come by.

Best to save up for a new PC, really.

But who knows

1110246 2010-06-14 09:59:00 I have checked the Motherboard and it's an AGP 8X slot.

Also has onboard graphics.

1110247 2010-06-14 10:10:00 Ok well its a bit to late to think about buying a new pc lol as i have just spent $200 on this old system trying to upgrade it for my daughter.
In regards to the AGP statement... So basically as long as it is a AGP it will be compatible, right?

1110248 2010-06-14 10:14:00 Yeah, even if it's AGP 4x instead of 8x it will still work. Performance wise it will be noticeable only in older games. qazwsxokmijn (102)

Upgrade it for what exactly? gaming? You can't.

As for the PSU, that's meaningless. A lot of cheap or generic PSUs may say it's capable of 400w but they lie.
It's always best to stick with known quality brands of PSU.

1110251 2010-06-14 21:05:00 Whats wrong with the current graphics card, I presume it's dead? Sweep has suggested that machine should have onboard graphics - if so, and if this is dead, I'd be worried about the motherboard in general. inphinity (7274)
